Last week the state of Utah released its annual report on homelessness. The Deseret News wrote this story about the report, noting that once again the number of unsheltered homeless people in Utah increased. At the same meeting where the report was released Pamela Atkinson and others presented a plan to build three new small facilities to prevent people who are currently sleeping indoors from being forced to sleep outdoors when the homeless shelter in downtown Salt Lake City is closed next year. You can learn more about this plan, and other efforts to address unsheltered homelessness during a panel discussion on this topic at Crossroads Urban Center's annual poverty summit. This panel discussion will take place at 9:35 AM and will include the following panelists: Pamela Atkinson, Community Advocate Tara Rollins, Utah Housing Coalition Rob Wesemann, Utah NAMI & S.L. Continuum of Care. You can learn more about the summit from the following flyer. |
