A little about ourselves...

We are a group of women working together to create change.  Being a mother is challenging - making sure your children are safe, protected, and living to their full potential is difficult.  Encountering all of the obstacles that come with being in poverty only adds to this challenge.

We are women - mothers - who come together to identify real solutions to the struggles that come with raising children while experiencing poverty.  We work with decision-makers from a variety of groups to create a community that is supportive and safe for all families. We are Powerful Moms Who Care.

Mission Statement

Powerful Moms Who Care (PMWC) is an organization of low-income women working toward safer communities and healthier families, especially for people living in extreme poverty and struggling with homelessness. We work to increase the availability of low-income housing for families, as well as accessible and affordable child care, health care, education and job training.

Our Priorities

Childcare:
  • Accessible and affordable childcare that offers assistance to families during non-traditional business hours.
Permanent Supportive Housing for Families:
  • The creation of more permanent supportive housing units that are made specifically for families.  The needs of single people and families can be drastically different.   Designating PSH specifically for families is important.
Security & Security:
  • Making sure that buildings where families do reside are secure.
