Clothing Vouchers

We work with a variety of community and religious groups who issue referrals for low income people. These vouchers can be exchanged for clothing and household essentials at the Store at no cost. Items are also offered at nominal prices to those without referrals or in need of other goods.

Volunteers

Without our incredible volunteers there would not be a Thrift Store! Every week volunteers contribute 177 hours of their time to our Thrift Store. That is equivalent to over 5 full time employees! We rely on volunteer groups and in- dividuals for our entire operation, including sorting, transporting, stocking, and maintenance.  If you can stop by during our store hours to help please reach out to our thrift store manager, Tess Otero, at tess@crossroadsurbancenter.org or fill out the form below.

History

Founded in 1966, the same year as the Crossroads Urban Center, the Thrift Store began with a mission to provide clothing and housing items to those in need. In 1997, the store’s building was     officially dedicated the The Virginia B. Parmalee Community Center, named after the full-time volunteer who managed the store for 22 years. Virginia’s compassionate spirit, dedication to service, and commitment to justice for the poor will inspire our community for generations to come.

If you would like to volunteer at the thrift store please let us know
