July Food Drive And Golden Celery  Competition

The number of families and individuals needing help with food generally goes up during the summer but donations to help often go down during those months.  That is why we organize a food drive every July.  We are grateful to the many congregations and small community groups that collect food as part of this drive.  We are particularly grateful for the congregations that get involved with the Golden Celery Competition to see who can donate the most food in July per person attending worship services.  To learn more about the 2022 July Food Drive reach out to Bill Tibbitts via email, bill@crossroadsurbancenter.org

Top Donation needs for the summer of 2022:
     •  Peanut butter
      •  Cereal
      •  Canned fruit/fruit cups
      •  Individual snacks (granola bars, etc.)
      •  Ramen Crackers
      •  Canned tomatoes/tomato product
      •  Canned soup

How a congregation can participate in the Congregational Challenge and win the coveted Golden Celery Trophy

1. Collect non-perishable food from July 1-31.   Most non-perishable food items will be counted.  Due to lack of need for these items we won’t accept: food     storage, #10 cans (the big ones), or other bulk items.  Water WILL be counted this year.
2. Drop off food to be weighed at Crossroads Urban Center's downtown food pantry located at 347 South 400 East, Salt Lake City by August 3,.  Food may be collected at your gathering site and dropped off weekly, monthly, or at any other interval at    Crossroads.  Food may also be purchased by individual members and dropped off independently.  When food is weighed, be sure to have it recorded under your congregation’s name so it can be counted towards the total.
3. Take attendance from July 1-31.  Count the number of people attending services each week and send the total to Bill Tibbitts by August 6th.
Although not required, it is helpful for Crossroads’ staff if you inform us of your participation.  Please email Bill Tibbitts at bill@crossroadsurbancenter.org or call (801) 364-7765 x.107 to officially sign up.
The total pounds divided by the number of attendees will be calculated and the winner of the trophy announced the week of August 7, 2022.
