The proposed development around a renovated Delta Center can either be a model for including mixed income housing in a mixed use development or a lesson in why housing affordability concerns get ignored. On Friday, May 17, the Executive Director of Crossroads Urban Center, Glenn Bailey, sent the following open letter to Salt Lake City leaders asking them to, "insist that any zoning amendment made to enable increased density in the proposed district around the Delta Center be contingent on the inclusion of an agreement that ten percent of the units within the district will be affordable to households earning less than $30,000 per year and that an additional ten percent be affordable to households earning less than $60,000 per year."

The Salt Lake City Council will be holding a public hearing this evening about the proposal to redevelop the Delta Center and the neighborhood around it. You can get more details about the hearing on the city website and submit your own public comment by sending and email to [email protected] .
