With funding from the United Methodist Women, Crossroads Urban Center conducted a survey of 77 mothers who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. We also conducted three focus group sessions with smaller groups of mothers in order to explore issues in more depth. The goal of the survey and focus groups was to better understand the challenges these mothers face, what has been helpful for them, and what would be of benefit in the future. The full report can be found here. The top three recommendations made in the report are: 1. Establish another family shelter with onsite childcare. 2. Build another Permanent Supportive Housing development for families. 3. Provide better access to childcare for homeless parents and those at risk of homelessness.
