The Salt Lake City Council has to pass a budget for the next twelve months before July 1st. That is why they are holding public hearings on the budget on May 24th and June 7th at 7 PM in the Room 315 of the City County Building.
Members of the Anti-Hunger Action Committee believe the Council needs to put more money for developing low income housing in the budget. Thousands of families in the City are paying over half their monthly income on rent. Developers are building hundreds of new apartments in the City but too many of them cost over $1,500 per month to rent. Our city needs to take action to produce more units that people living on low or fixed incomes can afford.
Come speak at this public hearing and help us ask the Council to do something about this important problem!
