Please read our reports about child homelessness for Salt Lake County, Weber County and the State as a whole and then share them with people who represent you at the state and county level

During the month of September, 2020, Crossroads reports repots on child homelessness for Salt Lake County, Weber County and the state as a whole.  We produced these reports because we believe it is possible to reduce the number of nights children are homeless and improve health and educational outcomes for children who have experienced homelessness.  You can get  a copy of our report for Salt Lake County  here, a copy of our report for Weber County  here and a copy of our state report  here.

We encourage everyone to find out who represents them in the Utah Legislature by visiting this page of the state website and talk to them about this report and our recommendations for reducing child homelessness and improving outcomes for children who have experienced homelessness.  The recommendations in our report for the entire state are:
  1.  Produce 200 units of supportive housing for families with extended or repeated experiences of homelessness.
  2. Capitalize on full Medicaid expansion by connecting all parents and children who become homeless with medical services they need to move forward with their lives.
  3.  Reduce the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic by continuing pandemic rental assistance programs and helping school districts to identify and assist children who have fallen behind in school due to homelessness.
  4.  Work with Utah's congressional delegation to increase federal funding for housing for low income families and vouchers to help families at risk of becoming homeless.
We would also like to encourage residents of Weber County and Salt Lake County to share the reports from those counties with members of the Salt Lake County Council and Weber County Commission.
