BOOKKEEPER/OFFICE MANAGER
Crossroads Urban Center is a private, nonprofit, community organization providing direct services, advocacy, and community organizing assistance to thousands of low-income people, people with disabilities, and people of color in Utah. We operate two emergency food pantries and a free/low cost Thrift Store among other programs. The Bookkeeper/Office Manager is directly responsible to the Executive Director. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Qualifications
- Experience doing basic accounting and bookkeeping tasks. - Experience with Quickbooks for Nonprofits is a plus.
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and basic accounting software.
- Effective use of 10-key, copiers, word processors. Macintosh computer experience a plus.
- Bondable.
- Notary Public (or eligible to become one).
- Knowledge of general office procedures, phone etiquette, and public relations.
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
- Driver’s license and the ability to lift in order to pick-up and deliver supplies.
- Well organized.
- Knowledge of nonprofit 501(c)(3) operations helpful.
Job Description
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and bank reconciliations.
- Receipt donations and prepare bank deposits.
- Prepare checks and appropriate records for disbursements.
- Insure that payroll and benefits are calculated and issued as appropriate.
- Prepare periodic reports for Board, funders, etc.
- Administrative filing and record keeping
- Submit grant reports and requests for payment to funders.
- Bill the State for sales and food tax reimbursements monthly.
- Order bus passes from UTA for distribution through the food pantry.
- Serve as office manager by coordinating and overseeing office/business needs and supplies.
- Assist the Executive Director by reminding Board/Committee members of meetings and circulating information to the Board of Directors.
- Document policies and procedures and work to improve agency operations.- Serve as Notary Public for the agency.
- Track sick and vacation time for all employees on a monthly basis.
- Assist employees with basic human resources questions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
