Poverty Summit to focus on proposed Rocky Mountain Power rate increase and how child homelessness can be reduced by the production of Family Supportive Housing

On the morning of Saturday, August 24, 2024,  representatives from a variety of faith and community organizations will gather at the Cathedral Church of St, Mark for the Nineteenth People's Summit on Poverty, sponsored by Crossroads Urban Center, Powerful Moms Who Care and the Faith and Advocacy Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness.  Highlights of the summit will include:
  • Both major party candidates for Salt Lake County Mayor presenting their plans and ideas for addressing homelessness and housing affordability,
  • The presentation of  a "Hellraiser Award" to the Nomad Alliance,
  • Panel discussions about: a) Housing for homeless families with children and, b) How Rocky Mountain Power's proposed rate increase will make the cost of living go up and increase homelessness.
The summit is free and open to the public.
