Poverty Summit on Saturday to focus on how proposed Rocky Mountain Power rate increase would hurt low income renters and other important issues

​Crossroads Urban Center will be holding its annual Poverty Summit on the morning of Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark in Salt Lake City.  Highlights for this year’s summit will include:
  • Candidates and/or campaign surrogates for Governor and County Mayor sharing their plans for addressing homelessness and housing affordability,
  • The presentation of a Hellraiser Award to the members of the Nomad Alliance for their efforts to ensure that unsheltered homeless people are directly involved in public policy discussions about homelessness in Utah,
  • A panel discussion on the topic of “Reducing Child Homelessness with Family Supportive Housing“ featuring representatives from the Road Home, Voices for Utah Children, Utah Housing Corporation, the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City and Powerful Moms Who Care, and,
  • A panel discussion on the topic of “The Rent’s Too High and Rocky Mountain Power Wants to Make Things Worse” featuring representatives from AARP Utah, Comunidades Unidas and the Utah Housing Coalition.
 
This entire event is free and open to the public and will include snacks and a light lunch.  The full agenda for the summit can be found below.
