A group of thirteen clergy from from Salt Lake County, representing nine different faith traditions or denominations, have sent a letter to the Mayor, City Council and Planning Division of Salt Lake City to support a proposal to convert a motel into a noncongregate shelter for homeless families with children., "Despite theological and ethical differences in other areas, we share a commitment to ensuring that children have a safe and warm place to sleep at night,"
There currently is a waiting list at the existing shelter for homeless families and so it is critical that this facility is open and running before the beginning of winter. No child in Utah should have to sleep in a tent or a car during a snow storm.
